MANIFESTO
Of THE
LIVING MURAL

Today we will begin a long journey to create a Living Mural. The nature of the Living Mural is similar to that of an organism, it can be layered, and changed; none of us who contribute to the mural will own it individually. Installed for a limited amount of time, the mural will consist of traces left by each of the muralists.
Over the coming months and years, various groups of youth from Albuquerque will be invited to contribute their own work to the Living Mural. Working within the theme developed today, the Living Mural will be a place for Albuquerque’s youth to contribute to the art community at UNM.
The identifiable marks – those which we might associate with individualism – will morph into a collective style of marks on the wall of University of New Mexico’s College of Fine Arts. The College is very pleased to be able to invite guest artists from Albuquerque’s South Valley Charter School to be part of the initial planning of this mural. This space is offered for a limited amount of time. The P.L.A.C.E Program, The College of Fine Arts, University of New Mexico.
