 07/08 “Expressing Community”
Creative Research Grants for Student Community Arts PracticeRelational-Artist-In-Residence Commitment

Accepting and receiving an Expressing Community Creative Research Grant award should be considered a serious commitment that will seriously reward your professional development as an artist. In addition to the grant award you will receive, the PLACE Program further invests in your development by providing workshops, guest speakers and community mentors. Attending the meetings and workshops provides information and training relevant to project development while encouraging a sense of community among the RAIR grant recipients. Our commitment to RAIR artists is to provide a rare extracurricular learning experience. We expect, in return, enthusiastic artists with a mature sense of commitment and a keen interest in community.

Professional Development Commitment:

SUMMER ORIENTATION (6 hrs): Getting Started – Sat., May 19th, 2007 9:00-3:00

In addition to the 60 hours of professional development activities listed above, RAIR artists are expected to commit 75-100 hours to their individual projects over the course of one year (beginning May 19, 2007 and ending May 15, 2008).
