Harvesting Local Soundscapes:
A Polylog Between Margins and Centers
Harvesting Local Soundscapes stems from an interest in the connections between music, communication, and the relationship of humans to the Earth. The project invites local residents to create their own sonic representations of specific locations in and around the Albuquerque area. Using digital recording, processing, and broadcasting technology, these “soundscapes” will become a series of public projections, transmitting participants’ subjective experience of place to various other locations in the 505 remote from the sounds’ geographic roots.
